' The illegal speed trap and the 1.5 million refund '

It took ten years to make Dorset Council and Government Officials realised that they were breaking the law.  Almost 25,000 motorists are now to receive compensation and have their wrongly awarded penalty points revoked from their licences.  All of this could have been avoided if anyone at the council had half a brain.  The error occurred as far back as 1997, but they didn't want to admit that they had got things wrong, something that all the councils do, mostly on the advice of their chief solicitor, and that tells it all.

' How to con the NHS and the firm that actually did '

DAVID WELSH was the boss of a Diving School in Plymouth, honest and upstanding? definitely not, but thought to be so by Plymouth residents and business associates.  He and his partner Andrew Walker entered into a conspiracy to defraud the National Health Service by faking clients and billing the NHS for services rendered - when in fact no service was given.  He charged the Health Trust 6,500 a time with these false claims he regularly submitted.  His company Fort Bovisand swindled the trust out of 250,000 pretending to treat divers in need of his compression chamber by paying strangers for their personal details for 200 each.  Welsh went to prison for five years and his pal jumped bail before serving his two year sentence.

BOOKS for Reference;

' The Fall of Scotland Yard '

Barry Cox, John Shirley and Martin Short  expose police corruption and malpractice which involved high ranking officers.  They publish the results of this third corruption inquiry since 1969.  This disturbing story and its implications within the police service were a glimpse of what was to come.  It dealt with serious flaws in the Met Police and the Squads who saw themselves above the law and acted like it.  It focused particular attention on the drug squads leading to the jailing of six drug squad officers working at Scotland Yard, and the investigation of 'the dirty squad' -- the Obscene Publications Division who took backhanders, and fifteen of them including two commanders were tried at the Old Bailey on corruption charges.....this and more in this book.

' The Poisoned Tree '

Kevin Taylor, a police target, gives the complete picture of the police conspiracy to destroy him over his friendship with John Stalker, a former top cop who was gagged over issues on policing during investigations he was carrying out.  The abuse of police power could not be stretched further in this account of deceit and the cops attempts to fabricate evidence against Kevin Taylor.  The Manchester police ended up paying Mr. Taylor substantial compensation.

' Bent Coppers '

James Morton gives a new slant on police corruption in this study going from 1829 and the corrupt bow st runners, replaced by the new police.  The force within four years had dismissals of over a third of them involved in allegations of brutality, sexual assaults, assaulting prisoners, bribery and more, which have been repeated over the past 160 years, now at the present time -- 176 years.  Bent Coppers is  the first study into police deviance in all its forms.  He delves into the corruption of the Robbery, Vice and Drugs Squads into the 1990's and shows that corruption is unlikely to be eradicated.  He also shows and confirms that these conditions and practices cannot be worked without the knowledge and silence of other officers.

He also examines both why and how there has been a continuing reluctance among senior officers, lawyers, judges and magistrates alike to listen to to allegations of corruption and stamp it out.

' Policing by Coercion '

Louise Christian reveals the darker side of on the street policing, the victims of racially inspired cops, the misuse of police powers and the inability of the police to obey their own rules and guidelines.  It gives details of 'stop and search ' and how this is leading to complaints of ill treatment by officers.  Unlimited police powers that threaten liberty and Britain getting more closer to a Police State.

' In the Name of the Law '

David Rose looks at the collapse of criminal justice as he investigates wrongful arrests by the police that lead to wrongful acquittals.  He explains how the law has escaped analysis for too long because of its mystical and ill-conceived position in social order.  He looks at investigations never before aired in the public domain and questions the police tactics used and the 'too close ' connection of some police and the crooks they are supposed to be eliminating for the good of society.

' THE FORCE - Inside the Police '

Robert Chesshyre looks into the police organisation and reveals the crisis that confronts the police.  He reveals that police officers are now held in such low public esteem that they are no longer believed by juries due to police malpractice which has eroded trust between the police and the policed.  He shows the confusing state and clash between loyalty to their colleagues and their duty to the public and the mistrust that it has fostered.

' Police Power and Black People '

Derek Humphrey writes on the issue of how the police treat ethnic communities.  He investigates the supposed equality and the judges and magistrates who pay lip service to it only.  ' Are all people of whatever colour equal under British Law ? this seems unlikely as he reveals that the blacks receive worse treatment in the hands of the police, and courts.  Victimization by police, denial of basic liberties, and cases of harassment.

' HILLSBOROUGH - The Truth '

Philip Scraton introduces this revised edition after two senior police officers are brought to court by the private prosecution for manslaughter by two families.  It examines the 7 week trial.  It shows the inadequacy of the law to deal with the situation truthfully, the negligence by police officers and the alteration of police statements in the South Yorkshire Police, the managers, and their solicitors who perpetuated these activities in order to cover up lies and misconduct.  The Whitewash inquiry by the West Midlands Police and Lord Justice Taylor, and his refusal for a retrial on Chief Superintendent Duckenfield. It goes onto show a failure in the law that fails to provide appropriate means of access, disclosure and redress for the negligence of policing at Hillsborough.

' The Abuse of Power '

Patricia Hewitt writes about the eroding of civil liberties and how the police continue to use it to their own advantage, abuse it and rely on it to convict not only the guilty, but the innocent too.  She investigates Censorship and Secrecy and how it has enabled the police to threaten existing rights and freedom.  She shows the blatant problem of ' Proof ' and how the law tends to rely on the evidence of police officers alone. The case of the three boys arrested by police on charges of arson were convicted on police evidence and three years later had their convictions quashed as a result of ' unreliable evidence' and only received 65,000 between them for three years spent wrongly detained.

' Wasting Police Time '

David Copperfied Pc. writes on police matters within the force in an attempt to provide some hilarity whilst confessing and showing us the way senior officers waste our money while fiddling the crime figures to meet bogus Home Office targets.  He says ' why can't you find a policeman when you want one? because they are down at the station writing reports, photocopying anything, stapling and filing when they are not getting caught up in petty squabbles of the underclass.  It goes on to claim the Chief Constables will not like the revelations in the book and that the policeman author wrote under the name of COPPERSBLOG.

' Corruption and Misconduct '

Alan Doig investigates the police in our society and the ' Operation Countryman ' scandal focusing on why police officers are susceptible to malpractice.  Operation Countryman was one of the biggest and expensive investigations into police corruption.  From the start it was bedevilled by officers who were hell bent on scuppering the investigating officers by non attendance and some merely left the force to avoid court action.  100's of officers were involved, but only a few were every charged, and the Government abruptly closed the investigation.

Mr. Doig also includes cases of Government misconduct in this book, the Poulson Affair. and the roll local government officials/ MPs/civil servants/police officers played in the case.

This book dealt with the subject of racism in the police, particularly the Met Police of London.  GURPAL VIRDI gives his experiences of being a target within the force and the appalling treatment he suffered, and a false arrest by colleagues which finally won him a payout and apology from the force.  But it was also the end of his career too, because he challenged the Met and this did not go well with the top brass.  He had seen too much and realised there was a sort of corruption that he was unable to stop, and this book tells that story.

' White Law '

A BOOK BY PAUL GORDON who has researched the elements of racism practised in the Police, Courts and Prisons.  He tells of cases and accounts where racism is covered up and the victims largely forgotten, and even when some are brought before the court, they find no justice there because of a bias towards them.  He deals with the prison system and the cover-ups by warders on victimisation of ethnic minorities and blacks, confirming much of the suspicion that racism in the law is ever present and not going away whatever whitewash is invented to fool the public.  (Review comment - 'impressive' New Society )

' BUDDY BOYS '  When good cops turn bad '

Mike McAlary gives us an insight to American Cops and the corruption that penetrates the precincts.  Mike deals with the New York Police Corruption and the cops that are eventually turned to become crooked.  The Brooklyn 77th Police Precinct revealed corrupt police officers who made the news in the New York Newsday.  It all began when Internal Affairs persuaded one officer to give them a list of cops who were killing, robbing and blackmailing suspects to get money and cover their crimes.  His investigations helped break the Alamo Scandal; he recounts the shocking story of a precinct gone mad in a world where the lines between integrity and greed, law and lawlessness have blurred into a purgatory of corruption, violence and tragedy.

' AN AFFAIR OF STATE -- The Profumo Case and The Framing of Stephen Ward '

This deals with the police framing of Stephen Ward and the Government's use of the police to silence Ward by any means; even if they were unlawful.  It deals with the eventual trial which had already been decided on by a judge selected by the Government to bring Stephen Ward down.  Met Cops were assigned to get anything on Ward and urged to fabricate it when necessary. They wanted his conviction at any cost in order to take the heat of a Government Minister who was compromised by a sex scandal that was about to blow the lid off the U.K. Government and reveal far more than they decided the public ought to know.  There was 'a farce trial' staged that already had its verdict of guilty.  The Police team calmly walked away from their subversive actions and were never brought to trial --- they couldn't be, the state had used them as a weapon and tool to get Ward.

' BENT COPS '   The Brighton Corruption

This 150 page paperback book mainly deals with the case of corruption in Brighton and the downfall of the Chief Constable Charles Ridge, along with two CID officers who were jailed as a result of the case being taken to the Old Bailey.  The case concerned the 'Conspiracy to solicit and obtain rewards'    (case of 1957) The author was in fact a police officer who joined the Brighton Police after the scandal.

This rather full and thick paperback edition features, dirty cops, bent justice and racism in Scotland Yard. It is considered an expose of great work carried out relentlessly by two leading investigative journalists who went for their targets and spilled the beans revealing many unknown practices and skulduggery within the police force. A work that was painstakingly put together after much research. The authors claimed that Scotland Yard tried to prevent publication.  The book in total is 783 pages, being one of the most in-depth studies of police corruption ever attempted, and it took five years to complete.

Written by Michael Gillard and Laurie Flynn....Bloomsbury Publishing. ISBN 978-1-4482 0903 3   published 2004

Dealing with the issue of corrupt cops it explores police deviance and crimes committed by police officers most of which was when they were actively on duty.  A journalist of quality, he gives lots of detailed work and also features as many cases as he can without sparing the police their embarrassment. It is referred to as the definitive edition by critics, and said to be the most comprehensive one to date.  It is 256 pages in length.

Another book of the same title but written by another author.  It is said to look into the goings on at Scotland Yard and the troubles they encountered over cases that revealed wrongdoing by some officers.  Critically, it is flawed in that there are accusations that he tended to go easy on the Met despite his mandate to expose corruption. It is also said that he rather features himself too much and therefore covered less of the actual subject, and is further accused of too much repetition. It is 272 pages in length.

Update: The latest 2004 edition is now 438 pages, and has been much improved.

A Book mainly telling of the Met's Crime Squad and the 'Dirty Dozen' revealing the work of the Undercover Cops who kept one step ahead of the CIB (Internal Corruption Squad), and how they were a law unto themselves as they fixed things, denied suspects of their rights and did away with incriminating evidence....retired policeman Duncan MacLaughlin who spent 20 years in the Central Drugs squad and Regional Crime Squad adds more info to the tarnished reputation of the 1980 squads who were 'a little bruised by corruption' as they worked undercover at Scotland Yard.......not entirely forthcoming, but enough to see the apples turning sour in the orchard....we call the Police Service.   It is 255 pages in length.

'Good Cop, Bad War'

A book by former Undercover Cop Neil Woods.  He was tasked with getting inside the drugs gangs in order to provide the police with information, which was vital for the elite team working within the districts of Derbyshire and Manchester.  But things got out of hand when one of the officers was arrested in a corruption swoop and all eyes were on the rest of the team, and one colleague was already on drugs and inches away from being nabbed too....he tells the story of how it became a nightmare task and the reason for him leaving the cops.

Publishers - Penguin books, Random House.  ISBN 9781785034756

This is a 512 page book that purports to be 'the police in their own words' which features policing mainly in the 1980's, and is supposed to be a candid view from coppers on the beat and what it was like to be a policeman during that period and the late 70's. Apart from a section on cop corruption and freemasonry, one of the best bits happens to be a chronicle of events in the section 'a decade of trouble' which starts at 1980 and through to 1989, which highlights a vast number of registered cases of misconduct and police events that hit the headlines and did the police reputation no favours.

'Peter Ryan -- The Inside Story'

This, although telling an Australian Police story, tells of Hampshire Police Chief Peter Ryan who went to clean up corruption in Australia, and found himself tackling 'one of the world's most corrupt police forces' -- The Cops of New South Wales.  It tells of his six years from 1996 to 2002, and his losing battle with the daunting task of taking on over 350 corrupt police officers who aimed to bring him down no matter what it took.  From his first day he met opposition, threatening warnings and danger.  Even though at first he made headway, it was stacked against him and even the Police Service hindered him until finally the politicians were used and Peter Ryan faced defeat when his contract was formally terminated.....which ended his 41 year police career.

'A Season of Bad Apples'

This rare book of 312 pages is out of print now and can only be sourced in old bookshops etc, it was written by an ex-copper who for some reason investigated his own force and others as he had himself transferred for this purpose.  He doesn't give a reason for this but gives a good account of nasty goings-on at police stations and how they covered up beatings and thefts some cops were involved in.  He says it was like working undercover and at times he was almost caught by colleagues as he looked at fabricated notes and witness statements against targets in the public they wanted to take revenge on.  He even covers a raid that was totally illegal organised by a duty sergeant who faked a report and had it endorsed by a chief inspector who owed him a favour when he was caught in a drink-drive sting.  There is much more than this, sadly it only had a short run and was supported by a struggling local publisher who normally printed cards.

'Lethal Force' (police marksman)

This book was borderline in this category; and for its usefulness, as it mainly deals with TONY LONG a police marksman who is highly applauded, apparently somewhat arrogant, and that is down to his own ego.  He's the writer, and dubs himself as the MET POLICE 'Controversial marksman' yet owns up to nothing despite giving the impression that he's the number one gunslinger without faults or hidden secrets...and it was only when you get to the chapters 'THE INQUIRY' and 'CHARGED' plus 'THE TRIAL' you find him under pressure when the Met Cops charge him with murder and accuse him of 'Lying' that things change, especially as it is his turn to be in a cell and stand in the dock.  He was acquitted eventually by the jury as one would expect, and these three chapters are the best as it shows that his paymasters can turn on him and go to great lengths to convict him whenever they choose to do so. But of course, he's rather blaze about the outcome which suggests this could all be a piece of theatre engineered by the police and government (and judiciary) to appear fair, which they're not.

'SCREWED' a book by Ronnie Thompson former Prison Officer..... who had powers of a constable.  He sees himself on a par with the police and states that every officer in the prison service shall have all the powers and privileges , authority, and protection of a police constable.....and gives the back cover page of his book this --- DRUGS. VIOLENCE. CORRUPTION......And that's just the Screws.

In the book Ronnie Thompson tells it like it is and reveals what goes on in Prisons and exposes the underworld of bent screws, the drugs they traffic the firms they work for and what they get paid for their sins.  He mentions the 'lawful force' they use....and the unnecessary force that is still being used, but hushed up.  He makes the point that he must stand by these officers despite the things they do and will not give any names to the Public through this book even though the reader may not agree with this code between officers. Michael Joseph lifts the lid on the box marked ' secret ' to show what Lawyers are really like.  The rogue lawyer infuriated the legal profession with his book ' THE CONVEYANCING FRAUD ' and in this he goes on to reveal that lawyers have been able to foist a ludicrous system of compensation on the British Public.  He accuses them of incompetence and corruption (Barristers and Solicitors).  He exposes the deliberate delays and the shabby way they treat their clients.

Mr. Joseph was a solicitor, and is therefore qualified to expose fellow lawyers.

Published by himself.   ISBN 0 - 9505023 - 2 4     1984.

Michael Joseph updates and revises his first book, which annoyed the Legal Profession in that he accuses them of maintaining ' a confidence trick of massive proportions '  He says in his introduction -- the traditional system of house purchase and sale (conveyance)  as operated by solicitors; is so bad in the service they give the client, and so far removed from the claims they make for it amounts to fraud. --- The art of conveyance, as practiced by solicitors, is to do as little work as possible, while relieving the house buyer and seller of as much money as possible.  The fraud lies in the solicitors' claim that they safeguard the house buyer in the most important purchase, whereas what they actually do is not only useless, it is worse than useless.'

Published by Michael Joseph.  ISBN 0 9505023 3 2   1989.

N.B.  The above book is a must for those who do not wish to be robbed by solicitors, the legal profession have been fleecing you for a very long time.  Do your own conveyance and save yourself lots of money.  Go online and search this book out, some copies are relatively cheap, and that is all in your favour.

Mark H. McCormack warns about the solicitors and Barristers who steer proceedings so that they are drawn out, and that means - the longer a case draws on, the less it is worth, except to a lawyer.  He goes on to say lawyers don't service legal business, they create it.  He says much of the resentment solicitors and barristers face is well deserved, he used to be a lawyer.   He also says that in a world where time is money, lawyers are masters at stalling.  Everything you suspected about solicitors and Barristers is more or less true.

'Defending the Guilty'  -- Truth and lies in the criminal courtroom.

Essentially a Lawyers perspective of the profession, the two-faced relationship with the police and judges, the job and its misunderstandings with society.  Lawyer Alex McBride candidly shakes things up by letting the public see what the game is and how it is often played, whether fair or foul, after all he says, the only justice played for is always in the hands of the winner, and we all want to win!  He brushes lightly in the sticky matter of 'Disclosure' and how it is used to deny the defence a proper case, and virtually makes it impossible to be a client's lawyer when the other side is hiding something that would seriously undermine a prosecution if it was ever revealed in court.  He analyses the defendant's chances and plugs for a jury hearing because the courts with magistrates often measure guilt by their own standards and have opinions way above understanding what ordinary folk do or live like.  Judges claim fairness but can often get things wrong and appear to know very little about a man on trial, and say the prisoner can appeal if they're wrong.  Trust in the police is measured and kept at arms length, depending which side you're on.......and much more.

'History of the Knights Templars'

When one looks into the World of Lawyers and the Judiciary, this valuable book tells of their beginnings, their lust for power and riches and how they used the kings of England to get position and privilege.  It all began with a group of nine 'French' Knights who arrived in Jerusalem in 1118 AD who managed to get their way into occupying the ancient Temple of Solomon.  These mysterious Knights were to become the most influential and powerful group around the world, and their goal was being rich, a trait that exists with lawyers and judges today, and they went about it secretively and at times using extortion and trickery to obtain position.  In London they moved into the 'Temple'  which became a storehouse of treasure and wealth attracting the noblemen, business traders, bishops and kings.  It became 'The Order of the Temple' and from its start at Holborn Bars, it moved to the banks of the Thames where the hub of Law now exists as all Lawyers know.  Scribe Matthew Paris described the new order as being up to many mischief's, some of which worried the king.  The erection of Middle Temple Hall led to the conversion of the old hall into chambers and two law societies whilst retaining their ancient orders and customs.  English Law was being put together by this new order of law makers and practitioners......and it remains much the same today. 'The Knights Templar'

This could be considered as a 'back up' book to the one above which is in my opinion the all inclusive detailed book on the Knight Monks who more or less took over the world from their times in the Crusades, not only getting a huge foothold in British Law and Politics, but being a major influence in America.  The Secret Group could move anywhere once they had gained trust of the Church and Monarchy, and they used it to get the wealth they were so fascinated with, because they knew wealth was power, and that's what ran countries.  It was a fighting force turned business model that used trade and its economic power to their advantage.  It became so powerful throughout Europe becoming so rich that it challenged the might of kings.

As it says, secret barrister is correct and what it says is that it an actual Junior Barrister who wrote blogs on line before embarking into books.  It says he specialises in Criminal Law, and that this is his second book in which he reveals aspects of the judicial system his colleagues may not approve of, hence the secrecy!  This book deals with the 'truth about Justice in an Age of Lies' -- he reveals how the powerful in society and the ignorant corrupt justice without the public's knowledge, and that they are making the public complicit in this agenda.  He reveals the stupidity, malice and incompetence behind the biggest legal stories of recent years.  He debunks the lies and builds a defence against the abuses of the law and rights......and more.

SIMON LEE takes us behind some of the controversial decisions made by judges -- looking at some of the derisive and ludicrous attempts to satisfy Government through the Judiciary.  He enlightens the situation of politics using judges to enforce the whim and absurdities, and the failure of judges to realise what their role is to the public who pay their salaries.   He shows what happens when the law misuses its power in 'The Supreme Injustice' and how Rights are seen, damaged and twisted to suit decisions.

'Jail The Judges'

It was amazing to find that this book is written by a female Barrister who has chosen to 'spill the beans' on the Judges in the British Judiciary.  It markets itself as a 'tell all' expose of the Judiciary's high command, and promises to reveal the many legal scandals involving judges, abuse of power and cover-ups of crimes actually committed by judges.  The book which was recently written aims to show judges for what they are while 'acting unlawfully' but comes at quite a high price for the reader.  Whether or not it does actually pay dividends and does what it says on the tin, we shall see, as we will attempt to get a copy of this book.  It calls the author a 'high class, high profile whistleblower'....the judiciary have made no comment so far?

Published by independent means, the author is Barrister Doctor Bulani.  2020, and has 378 pages.   Copies can be purchased on the Internet via Amazon.

The book by Judge Constance Briscoe, a biography that had her mother furious and a court case then ensued.  More amazing than spectacular, as it deals with abuse 'suffered in childhood' by Constance Briscoe who is at the current time of publishing this, being charged with forgery and perverting the course of justice.  Constance Briscoe was and is a Barrister, who in 1996 elevated to part-time Judge. She is married to Barrister Tony Aldridge QC and lives in London.

'The Powder Wars'

A biographical type book on Liverpool villain and Gangster Paul Grimes who after a long career in drugs and crime turned super grass and whistleblower revealing events and gangsters who he 'grassed' on.  But Grimes went further as he told of his earlier days and a 'fit up' by cops which sent him to jail on false charges.  More explosive revelations were soon to rock the legal establishment which sent shockwaves through the legal system and raised questions in Houses of Parliament.  On the first published 'Powder Wars' in 2004 newspapers quickly took up things mentioned and began their own coverage and the role Michael Howard (former Home Secretary) played, and the release of top gangster John Hasse...... and there was much more to follow......THE BRIBES! and the evidence of 3.5 million pound corruption scandal that the legal fraternity and government were anxious to cover-up.

Quite a rare book by Horace King who delved into crimes committed by the State, and not necessarily for the people and often against. He broadly looks at Europe and in particular with the UK covers a 'crime' of 1819 known by researchers as 'THE CATO STREET CONSPIRACY' which delves into the 'skulduggery' and secrecy of government. This case of massive proportions created by the government led to acts that defied human rights and justice.  It also led them to suppress evidence and introduce an act that quashed and prevented anyone from getting near the truth.  The drastic measure imposed was known as the 'SIX ACTS'. highly restrictive and ant-public in every way.  This was retaliation from the UK government on its people....a government which was responsible for the whole affair!

'Sadomasochism -- The Spanner Case'  1991

This was said by many to be 'A miscarriage of Justice' and because it involved the Police, Judiciary and the Government, it also gained the reputation of being a 'conspiracy' -- it started out as an overspend by the police which looked to be a waste of time until it changed its appearance and became a 'moral' crusade to criminalise fifteen men in the hope that society would appreciate the result.  The Law Lords were promoting what they said was 'sexual correctness' which was to expose the State and its intention to interfere in people's private sexual behaviour, which would turn parents and couples spanking games regularly held in their bedrooms to be illegal and an offence against the person, exposing them to the charge of assault because consent would no longer be an acceptable defence in law.  The Police too, would have more powers in this area and the government felt they were justified in steering society into higher morals, while at the same disguising their agenda to rid them of sex and assault groups who merely echoed what couples were up to every day in Britain. Judge Rant said he wanted to draw a line between what was and wasn't acceptable in a civilised society, but no-one looked into him?

An up to date account on government and corporate waste by a prominent member of a Parliamentary Committee.  Margaret Hodge has been a formidable bastion for accountability in Parliament and often a thorn in the side of many MP's she has cross-questioned over spending of taxpayers money.  This new book helps us continue to examine what the government has been up to. Hodge goes after government incompetence and inexcusable inefficiencies costing taxpayers billions, and especially the Ministry of Defence.  She pays special tribute to the whistleblowers who expose the role banks and advisers play in facilitating tax avoidance.  She was Chair of the Public Accounts Committee until 2015....well positioned to expose some of the important and very alarming financial issues including how corporations and ultra-wealthy individuals aggressively avoid paying tax along with the squandering of public money.

'The Great Pensions Robbery'

HOW LABOUR BETRAYED RETIREMENT?  --- This book by ALEX BRUMMER is a fascinating in-depth look at the way pensioners have been cheated by governments, and not only the Labour Government mentioned in the subtitle, it reaches far into Tory territory and reveals how politicians helped themselves to a retirement pot and used the law to protect themselves from having to take responsibility for the collapse of a retirement provision that should have been enjoyed by millions of workers who had saved all their lives to have a decent pension.  Brummer exposes the truth behind endless official spin and obfuscation (confusion) . He uncovers an utterly shocking story of cynicism and inaction, in which a government bent on 'penny-pinching' all took part in fatally undermining a 100 year old system which ended in destroying many people.

He lifts the lid on Governments who have lied and cheated the people, UK, USA, EUROPE and ASIA... revealing deception intended to suppress acts of utter contempt by the powers that cover-up and make information impossible to be seen (so they thought) in order to further greed and access to power -- political and economic. He exposes Asia and schoolchildren being made to kneel and then being shot dead by soldiers, arms being conveniently sifted through ' backdoor' Singapore and drug barons of Burma using companies in Singapore to launder money and no-one in Singapore deterring this. British Military atrocities via concentration camps more evil than the Nazis yet run by British Soldiers. Indonesia mass killing not meant to be questioned and anyone doing so imprisoned and tortured. USA and UK Police brutality and the denials and whitewash campaigns to save face. Deals made that cost human life and suffering in Asia brokered by the UK and USA. for financial gain and cooperation.  He tells of discussions with leaders and high ranking civil servants who told him of things that will be denied if ever told in the press...........papers and documents made to disappear so they cannot be called into account if something should go wrong.....this expose, 610 pages in length is an eye opener to those who seek real information, researched and accounted for by a world renown journalist and author of incredible stature.

JOHN PILGER alarms his own country of Australia with this publication, revealing what lies behind the sunny illusions of the Australian Image and exposes the government deals with the British that would not have been acceptable to many.  He tears down the facade erected during the 1988 Bicentenary celebrations, and the forgotten genocide of the 'original' Australians the Authorities would rather forget.  He says that within a decade Australia's tradition of visionary social reform and pride in its economic egalitarianism have been overturned by a new establishment, 'the Order of Mates' This is an almost Masonic alliance of leading politicians and their rich and powerful patrons.  Pilger hits hard against the corruption and recovers hidden secrets that were almost buried by the officials who thought they had taken care to bury some of the accounts that others said must not be seen.

'The Rise and Fall of Great Powers'

This book by PAUL KENNEDY tells of how the governments chase after economic riches above all else, and in doing so, often ignore their citizens needs and wishes, and in many cases use and abuse them with impunity.  It tells of deep rooted corruption at all levels including banking and foreign affairs, and shows how departments deal secretly in such a way so that it hides the truth, even to the point of taking property and land and ignoring human rights.

'Secret Affairs'

Britain's collusion with Radical Islam.....this exposes the truth of the UK government's connection with other nation's who are known to be dictators yet deal with them covertly so as to hide certain plots from the citizens.  How, from the 1940's they have connived with militant forces to control resources and overthrow governments in partnership with the CIA.  It tells of schemes and deals made with Saudi Arabia have not always been in the interests of peace but gain....and how Britain's spy services have helped carry out missions of sedition and other dubious policies at the government's bidding, and much more.

'Web of Deceit'

Written by MARK CURTIS, which tends to be a continuation of the above book in that he looks into the relationship of countries Britain has been prepared to deal with despite them having bad human rights and one in particular, rampant corruption in its government.  He says he is revealing Britain's real role in the world, and says since 1945 it has been Britain that has become the rogue State that no one realises, and that Blair in all of his spin  had policies that violated International law, and that some where blatantly unethical.  He also cites Britain's immoral policies in Iraq, Afghanistan, Kosovo, Indonesia and support for repressive governments.  He says new evidence to support this comes from 'former secret government files' and Britain's complicity in the slaughter of a million people in Indonesia in 1965.

Published by Vintage 2003.   ISBN 009448394

A third book by MARK CURTIS which in some ways is too closely connected with the two others, mainly because it tends to go over some of the subject he already raised.  However, saying that, it is worth getting to see what he left out and was able to delve in deeper this time.  The title refers to what my be called 'collateral damage'....incurred when carrying out a government policy either in Britain or abroad.  It looks at the 'expendable' people whose lives mean nothing when politicians and civil servants are pursuing a political goal or an economic target ie, austerity which the Tories felt proud of no matter how much the poor suffered.  He also looks at the price paid by those people and how the government always seek to justify their actions with propaganda and lies.   He looks at the UK and US connection and the secret pacts they do which cannot be examined because they have been classified....the deceit peddled out to defend the indefensible.....and more.

THE BANK OF CREDIT AND COMMERCE INTERNATIONAL -- one of the biggest frauds in history so far.  This is a tale on money laundering on a huge scale involving several countries including the UK.  This was a plan that involved major players and the failure of The Bank of England to act on evidence of fraud and deceit, and the accountancy firm of PRICE WATERHOUSE who signed off the books for a good many years and nothing was said.  One asks what was the UK government's role in this? and that answer appears elusive at the best of times.  Why did they sit back and wait when they already knew that this banking system was being used to fund elicit arms deals, terrorism, drug deals and more.

'Nightmare on Lime Street -- The Scandal of Lloyd's Bank'

Not unlike the above and the recent bailout by taxpayers to a recent banking scandal, researcher CATHY GUNN reveals the scandalous behaviour of Lloyds Bank and the losses incurred by investors in 1992 and 1993.  She reveals the 'double-dealing' and 'malpractice' which had nothing to do with bad luck at all.  Regarded as a financial journalist, Cathy turns the spotlight on a bank much revered  and reveals the 160 million lawsuit for damages in 1991 when Lloyds had an accumulative loss of 260 million and rising.  At one stage Judge Mr Justice Saville said 'Never in the commercial history of the City of London has so much of other people's money been lost by the single-handed negligence of one man' and as it unravelled, Lloyd's names grew increasingly worried about the wrongdoing that led them to this disaster.

Written by HYWEL WILLIAMS, this book explains THE CONSERVATIVE DECLINE AND FALL 1992 - 1997.   This was the period when John Major was the Prime Minister who took over from Margaret Thatcher.  And the players, which seems to suit this were deemed to be arrogant and dismissive of the voters, and as a result brought them failure.  It looks at the problem of promises not kept? and the self belief of those in the Cabinet and Conservative Party that they considered themselves invincible.  Hywel Williams was John Redwood's advisor who witnessed the collapse, yet strangely omits to cover the case of Jonathan Aitken who went to jail for perjury in that period....was it a mistake? or deliberate?

'HONEYTRAP'   (The devastating Expose of the British Establishment0

This book deals with mystery of Dr Stephen Ward who was hounded to suicide as a result of an Establishment that used him and abused him in order to quell a scandal that would reveal more than the government would allow.  It involved a Conservative Minister for war and  call girls who were present at parties in which the possibility of spying was all too real.  This is the case in which Prime Minister Harold Macmillan resigned a few months after the trial of the Minister.  Such was the fear of a dire security breach that ministers and civil servants were involved in 'Damage Control' ...which led to the Denning Enquiry.  Even MI5 were involved in setting a trap, one they hoped would work out for the Government, but didn't. Even the trial of Stephen Ward was seen as a deliberate smokescreen to end the sordid business and stop further revelations and Press from getting near the truth.

'An English Madam'    (The Cynthia Payne Story)

Similar to the above in that it involved a sort of sex club, run by Madam Cynthia Payne.  It was frequented by Politicians, Lawyers, Cops and Judges who were there for sex games and whipping sessions among several other kinky scenarios and games.  It therefore became even more difficult when she was brought to trial for running this service as she phrased it...because in court she said she wasn't sure she might be appearing before one of her 'boys' and knew that this might be embarrassing for everyone in the court.  Even the establishment had to be careful what details got out and 'orchestrated' most of the disclosures to protect some of 'those important visitors' to her house.  They were unable to stop all names and the list included members of the clergy, Parliament, Barristers, big business and the Cops.  Which of the latter, involved an ex- Police Superintendent who drove to Somerset who took on the role of 'houseboy' and the HMRC man who was anxious to play the part of a lesbian.....such was the clientele.  She was actually sentenced to jail by these upstanding members of society for keeping a disorderly house.......and this seemed to take the spotlight off the elite.

'SPYCATCHER'   (The MI5 and government secret goings-on)

THIS WAS THE BOOK THAT THE GOVERNMENT TRIED DESPERATELY TO SUPPRESS.......having said that, the author did quantify that he didn't reveal anything that should matter to them.  He was Peter Wright, a former Senior Intelligence Officer of MI5...and there's no doubt he knew quite a lot.  Why the government were so anxious to stop this book can only be because they are obsessed with secrecy and afraid of public opinion.  Mr Wright tells us that for 5 years we, the nation, were bugged and burgled, especially in London, at the State's bequest, while pompous civil servants in Whitehall pretended to look the other way......and laughingly pointed out that the organisation's motto was 'Thou shall not get caught' meaning that operators had to carry out their covert and often questionable duties under the radar... because they basically operated outside the law.  These and other explosive revelations alert the reader into a dimension they hardly know anything about.

Written by Peter Wright.  Published by William Heinemann (Australia) 1987.  ISBN 0 856661 166 9

PS. Paul Greengrass, journalist, assisted in the making of the book, and interviewed Peter Wright about his career in MI5.

'Defending the Realm'   (MI5 and the Shayler Affair)

DAVID SHAYLER was an operative at MI5 who decided to spill the beans on the Spy Department, so he went to the 'MAIL ON SUNDAY' to give his story on what goes on in this secretive bureau within government.  He tells us of how Cabinet Ministers were being listed for investigation along with other practises of covert skulduggery was just a daily routine which involved intercepting letters and having them photocopied, the cross checking of NHS and DWP data on anyone they 'felt' was a threat....running behind the law as 'Secret Police' because it was protected from Parliamentary scrutiny and was virtually unassailable.  They turned on their ex-employee, now branded as a 'whistleblower' and danger and tried to gag him with ferocity.  Phone tapping was regular and raids by Special Branch a certainty, especially if you knew too much about the organisation. When he went to France they had him jailed as a 'terrorist' which was finally branded by a French court as motivated by political needs.  He finally went into exile, totally fed up of an agency that was out of control.

'The Truth at Last -- Christine Keeler'

MY STORY -- a biography written by Christine Keeler with Douglas Thompson, setting the story right on 'THE PROFUMO AFFAIR' in 1961 when she almost brought the British Government down.  Even though some of this was covered in the book 'An Affair of State' and partly in the book 'Honey Trap' -- this book fills in the gaps and releases new material on the whys and wherefore's of what truly took place which was not mentioned due to secrecy and the corridors of power in the government at that time who silenced as much as they could.  She talks of dangerous deceptions, cruel intentions and rough justice......279 pages.

'Empty Cradles'

Written and researched by Margaret Humphreys, deals with 'The Commonwealth Scandal'  --- Children who were sent from Britain to places such as Australia, New Zealand and Canada.  This reveals the lies of the UK government put out to the vulnerable children who were told despicable mistruths, and then shied away from this when it was later shown that they were abused and faced harsh treatment at the hands of officials and institutions. Documented physical and sexual abuse was denied and hidden by Officials in order to 'disprove rumours' at many institutions in Western Australia which was covered up by both the UK and Australia for many years.  The children were promised a wonderful future in these countries, but rarely ever saw it and instead, did hard labour and worked throughout the day.  It also tells of Margaret's journey and her encounter with the horrors, particularly with one who's case she investigated.

'SCANDALS'    (of Australia's past)

It should be remembered that Britain was very much tied in with Yet another look at Australia from another angle as stated in this collection of accounts...'Saints and Sinners'   --  which looks into accounts around Australia that are often overlooked and commonly misconceived as of no importance by many Australians who'd rather not know.  One account includes the case of a Judge, Judge Walpole Willis, who was suspended by the Governor of Sydney.

'War Crimes'......In the light the UK are always denying involvement in war crimes past and present...we recommend the following books:

'WAR CRIMES AND ATROCITIES' by Anderson, Williams and Head.  Respected correspondents unearth the nasty goings on by countries.

'CRIMES OF WAR'  by Gutman and Reiff ........ very comprehensive and takes on cases around the world besides the UK involving crimes          committed with impunity under the disguise of war.

'WAR CRIMES THEY DIDN'T WANT YOU TO KNOW'  by J. Edwards.  This was an expose that unfortunately included 'secret documents' he published that contained confidential memos and letters.  As a result two counties including Singapore banned its sale and others like the UK and Australia interfered with its distribution leading to only 500 copies ever it will be difficult to locate as it was written in 1984 and we tried to get a copy, but failed....but we're still appealing to anyone who has one to loan it to us.

'Teenage Hackers'

This book deals with the ever-growing menace of the teenage hackers who are currently undermining confidence and security of the Internet. It reveals the ease in which boys in particular from 12 to teens are becoming hackers, and the fact they are one step in front of the law and other users of the Web.  Alarmingly it was found that many are doing this from their bedrooms and a computer, able to steal from customer's bank accounts, set up fake sales, use programmes like TROJAN to disable and wreck computer systems besides cripple others by denial of service attacks and get into confidential data of any kind. The author points out that these kids are to all 'innocent looking' and identification is futile....but when they turn on the computer that's when the real damage starts....for anyone they feel like targeting.

PLOTS, COLLUSIONS, COVER UPS and Secret deals etc,  this relatively new book covers many things known already, and although it introduces new elements and updates, it tends to stick to a brief narrative and pack as much as it can in the 304 pages.  It also deals with the substance of conspiracy and shows that even some of the slightest whacky ideas are born out of something, whereas the ridiculous is too obvious and explains why.  It does for those into wondering about the CIA, include the stuff on Edward Snowden, besides theories.

'Great Parliamentary Scandals'

A Book by Matthew Parris listing as many scandals as possible in this 'must have' book on Political misconduct right from the time that Francis Bacon the Lord Chancellor to Queen Elizabeth the 1st appeared in court and admitted 'I am guilty of corruption and do renounce all defence'......four hundred years ago in 1621.  This fascinating and comprehensive reference book deals with 53 scandals up to 1995, some of which have not seen the light of day.  As Mr Parrish says, some MP's who thought they'd got away with it have now been ousted in this book which was thoroughly researched by a man who whilst being a columnist and broadcaster mingled and knew the political system well, and in doing so now presents the low side of high office in the House of Commons, and exposes the immoral swamps of British Politics.

This book looks more interesting than it is, and as one observer said, 'doesn't quite spill the beans in regard to official secrets act' and indicates that the author Britain's Ambassador to the US, Christopher Meyer, decided not to rock the boat in this direction.  It's front showing redacted pages doesn't reveal anything in this nature and only on occasions does he indicate problems occurred with the US over arms and in one chapter 'Lying Abroad' discusses 'the special relationship' which has had a chequered history and was only invented during the war years. Where the 'lying' comes in is hard to tell or find, and one is left to assume that there must be some, but not apparent in this book, which deals with his occupancy in the US as Britain's Ambassador.

This book is the opposite of the above, very understated, yet it contains more than expected and deals with addictions, and explains how addiction is invading our lives and taking over the world.  It divides itself into several different menus all of which have a bearing on how people behave and misbehave, play down and cover up reality in an attempt to to pass off the addiction as acceptable.  It shines a huge light on iphones and how they are being used in drug deals, gaming and gambling, internet scams and the porn industry....and that nobody seems to realise what a hold they've got.  The iphone number one was a perfectly useful phone, but the industry controlled by money moguls soon told kids they needed the next generation of phone leading them onto bigger bills and massive spending.  Porn among teens and adults rocketed to nothing ever seen before after 2006, and dedicated porn sites were there to entice the young into accessing it free from the internet..72 million users were able to see and download hardcore and explicit porn sex and assaults....and facts and figures!

'Dangerous Ideas'

The book may at first look alien to the theme we deal in here, but after closer reading, it contains many elements that corruption, police and government use in their daily business, and their suspicions of the public they pretend to serve.  It delves into the threats to come with the suppression of free ideas and the silencing of free speech and dissidents many governments fear and take measures to get rid of.  The author clearly shows that in challenging organisations and government, that they are quite prepared to block access to the Internet and social media when they wish to control and manipulate the situation, conceal the truth and suppress the nation. All countries including the UK do such things and have contingency plans waiting for those moments when the State turns on its citizens.  History shows the burning of books, and today its removal of online content, showing that censorship is alive and well, and that those who don't like the truth, will do anything to hide it at whatever the cost.........and this is a global threat to human rights, because dictatorship is waiting around the corner!

Parliamentary Democracy and the relationship between Lord and peasant, fascism and an industrial State.  It explains conflicts between the classes and interests over the bones of privilege, commerce and property.  The author cites documented evidence of the destruction of Peasantry and the Aristocratic Rule for Triumphant Capitalism.  He looks into the British capacity to settle their political and economic differences through peaceable, fair, and democratic processes, and comes to find that such notions are 'a partial truth'....and looks into the English Civil War , the social struggles, and hierarchy for the answers.  He reveals a whole lot more on the relationship between Dictatorship and Democracy, and the making of the modern world.

'An Annoyance of Neighbours'

This wonderful witty and poignant book looks into the thorny subject of neighbours and the myth that neighbourhoods are a source of well being and imply a social bonding between people that rarely exists in phrases like 'people power' and 'working together for the common good' Dr Angela Lightburn lifts the veil and shows how neighbours can be the bane of your life rather than the so thought helpful couple with a smile and offering a welcome cake as you arrive in their territory.  The neighbours who regard you as the enemy and tell lies about you to put others off so that you leave pretty quick.  She cites the neighbours who want to 'mould' newcomers into their decided image and conform, the ones that have a 'clique' mentality and noisy ones that have no regard for your needs and disagreements that escalate into something worse....all this and more.

'Betrayal'   (the Spotlight story)

'BETRAYAL -- THE CRISIS IN THE CATHOLIC CHURCH --ABUSE OF CHILDREN -- This is the amazing book that lifted the lid off the Church and investigated child abuse within its ranks.  The Boston Globe Newspaper began its investigation with five top journalists who uncovered the truth about the Catholic Church and the cover-ups that were going on so that they could hide facts about priests and brush the evidence away.  In 2002 they bravely published a report based on six months of investigations showing that 100's of children in Boston had been sexually and physically abused by Catholic Priests, and that it had been ignored by most...the covering up of crimes, hush money to silence victims, and Senior Church Officials who in an attempt to protect themselves and the Church made innocent children pay the price.

'The Contradictory Society'

This book was met with hostility and anger by the public on it's release in the UK, especially groups like counsellors who openly regarded it as unhelpful and without balance.  It studied human reactions in the UK and the two-sided honesty that often showed a lacking in the people's ability to act truthfully in situations which they didn't like, or benefit from.  It also showed a preference to appear better than they were, and where possible, to feign an impression that was mostly made up and assumed. Self-centred and selfish tendencies were quick to surface when the need to act was for the individual rather than the group.  The author spent many days at several two day and three day conferences across Britain observing tutors and counsellors often offering no more than silly games and role play without real purpose or having contact with reality which was just pushed aside in favour of a 'rose-tinted' view of fantasy, and a belief in people that couldn't be substantiated or sustained however good their intentions were!

'Beware of Small States'

Being 2022, this book mainly dealing with the middle east and Asia to some extent, was published in 2010, yet in the light of the recent invasion by Russia into Ukraine, just over a month ago, its relevance really brings home the points that the author expresses in this book.  He said 'Beware of small states, they are the victims of greater states, yet a source of danger to them too'....and this certainly fits the Putin madness as he tries to overthrow and subjugate a neighbouring country so that he can bring it under the control of Russia, because he hates the West and everything it stands for -    dictators don't allow free speech and expression, they demand total obedience and always end up ripping off the people and kill those that get in their way.  Read this book now.

PS: China, another rogue authoritarian state, have been harassing Taiwan, and want to take it under their control.

'Modern Dictators'   (A History of Tyranny)

This list couldn't be complete without looking into one of the biggest reasons of corruption in governments.  The rise of dictatorship and control of the people comes to those with inner reasons to dominate, hold power and have their own way without question.  Persuasion, repression and obedience has developed from political ideals with an eye for the wealth that comes from being in charge.  In years gone by it was developed from a simple case of conflict between communism and capitalism --- and it has now become a fight for power both politically and military, and those controlling the military have the upper hand.  Dictators in Asia oversaw dramatic economic development in such countries as Singapore, South Korea and Taiwan to mention three, and it was another version of the Dictator, a more cunning development that is on the increase around the world.... and the West with their Imperial techniques find they no longer work as they once did.........and more in this book.

and for those who question police tactics there is the fiction series 'LINE OF DUTY' (4 series) involving police corruption....The Met Police didn't like this! despite it being one of the most watched programmes on TV.  There is also another series called 'BETWEEN THE LINES' (3 series) both not popular with the police, especially the Met Police.

REDACTED (in film 14) for those who don't know what it means is: the removal of words, sentences and passages marked over in black so that nothing can be read in case it incriminates, or from a government view, intrudes on security as they often claim.  Used mainly to hide facts and discussions that are 'confidential in nature' and is too risky for public inspection (and could infer unlawful acts not deemed for public consumption).

WE MOVE ONTO A BOOK BY JOHN GRISHAM, FORMER LAWYER AND THRILLER WRITER WHO HAS WRITTEN MANY LEGAL THRILLERS INCLUDING 'THE FIRM' and 'STREET LAWYER' among several other novels, some of which have been made into highly successful films.

'Rogue Lawyer' is one of his latest offerings featuring a lawyer who doesn't fit in with the yes sir, no sir, thank you kind that we see.

It says 'He won't let the truth get in the way of justice. I don't do work through the Bar Association.  I'm a loner, a rogue who fights bad systems and hate injustice wherever it is, even in the law'

Being a former attorney it is obvious he knows much about the system and has a first hand account of how they work.

Published by Hodder and Stoughton 2015.   ISBN 978 1 473 62286 9

JOHN GRISHAM'S OTHER BOOK  IS 'The Street Lawyer' as we said earlier, and the tale centres around an up and coming lawyer who looks set for big things, and with no time for conscience, there is a violent encounter with a homeless man, and its fallout propels him onto a trail of corruption leading him to the doors of the firm he works for, and the unearthing of its dirtiest secrets.

2.1.  The right To Freedom of Expression.  Article 10.  Schedule 1,  Paragraph 1.   HUMAN RIGHTS ACT 1998.

The right to hold opinions/ impart information and ideas without interference by Public Authority and regardless of frontiers.

Libel was never designed to suppress this right, but UK courts and Lawyers continue to abuse it.

The strange thing is, the majority of British people condone corruption or look the other way because they do some of it themselves, if this was not true, then corruption would not exist.

One only as to look at a recent news item from the USA.  CORRUPTION IN NEW JERSEY.  Over forty people including mayors, religious leaders and businessmen have been arrested by the FBI for money-laundering and other offences.  These people have been involved with this for some time said one investigator, corruption is just a way of life to them he added.  Over ten years 150 people in New Jersey have been convicted for corruption.   This only goes to show that what this site shows is not only correct, but that we only scratch the surface in regard to the Lawyers, cops, and civil servants in Government, it probably reaches far deeper than just the subjects we cover.

The Internet reveals corrupt cops in other countries '

Luckily these days, the Governments and Authorities cannot suppress things as they used to --- and get away with it.  Corrupt cops can now be listed and talked about in the USA, New Zealand, Australia, Ireland, Canada and many more countries showing that it is widespread and a growing menace to truth and freedom.  Type in corrupt cops in the search box on your opening browser and you will be amazed at the choice.  All this official response of 'minor and only a few' is completely untrue as we have shown you on this site.  But, even so, they will pedal out familiar denials and tell lies because a lie by them soon turns to truth because they have no other way out.

' Denmark suppresses evidence and groups monitoring corrupt police'

High ranking police officers have over many years, been actively taking suppressive action against individuals and groups in covert operations to silence critical information.  The listing and compiling of corrupt activities within the police and government officials is subject to swift elimination -- one person who contacted us --- and we cannot name him for his own safety says ' adverse publicity is removed or snatched by order of the government concerning criminal activities by police officers and officials of the Swedish Government.  Many people know of this, but many fear what might happen if they voice an opinion or mention bad cops.  Just making it known you are collecting material on them brings you into their target area -- it makes it very difficult and puts off any genuine research which ought to be exposed to public scrutiny.'

THERE'S ONLY A FEW OF US THAT STAND AGAINST IT, that is why the perpetrators try to silence us.
